I am a Certified Industrial Ergonomist (CIE) and a consultant and lecturer on pain prevention and relief . From my many years of study and experience, it is well established that one of the greatest problems in the workplace and during travel is what we ergonomitrists call "STATIC POSITIONING" (i.e., being in one position for an extended period of time in a less than ideal position). Static Positioning leads to fatigue, circulatory problems, chronic soreness and long-term physical damage. Increasingly crowded airplanes and the employer's idea of one- chair- fits- all only add to the problem.
As previously mentioned, my associates and I demonstrate and recommend the "Pocket-Pillow" as probably the most economic way to combat many of the pain causing issues, particularly those symptoms caused by "Static Positioning ". We emphasize to our clients that no two people are the same size or shape and one chair does not fit all. Ideally, each person would have a custom designed chair. Obviously, a custom chair for each employee is not a practical solution whereas the "Pocket-Pillow" can be used behind the back or neck or to sit upon to customize the office chair or airplane seat. The self-massaging air fluidity of the "Pocket-Pillow" provides subtle pelvic and spinal rotation and increases bodily movement, thereby minimizing the fatigue, circulatory problems and soreness of Static Positioning.
You might be interested to know that I travel with two "Pocket-Pillows", one to sit upon and one to lean against or use as a neck pillow when I nap. The Pocket-Pillow is light-weight, foldable, extremely durable, and can be finely tuned for customized individual needs, a great value considering benefits and cost.
